Nearly seven weeks after Nancy Guthrie vanished from her Tucson home, the uncertainty surrounding her disappearance continues to weigh heavily on those following the case. With no clear answers and few confirmed leads, each new development has taken on deeper meaning.

What once seemed like small details are now being revisited with urgency, as investigators work to piece together what may have happened. Now, attention has turned to a quiet, vacant home in her neighborhood, raising fresh questions in a case that remains painfully unresolved.

Investigators are now turning their attention to a vacant property in the same neighborhood. The shift marks a new phase in the case as federal authorities continue to revisit earlier details while following fresh leads.

In an interview with Parade, retired Pima County SWAT commander Bob Krygier explained why a vacant home could raise concerns in a case like this.

He added that access to a nearby property could allow someone to quietly observe the neighborhood without drawing attention.

Talking to Parade, he said: “It would offer an opportunity for a suspect or suspects to be a little bit more ‘under the radar’ to see the activity of the neighborhood, to see the comings and goings of people, the timing of things of all the people, [including] Nancy.”

Krygier also noted that such properties could be used in ways that are difficult to detect.

“A location like [a vacant home], out of the prying eye of the neighborhood, could also be a location to set up surveillance equipment if anyone chose [to do so]. It could be easily stashed in a structure or on the property without anyone knowing.”

Officials have not confirmed any direct connection between the home and Guthrie’s disappearance, but the renewed focus highlights that the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Krygier said the attention on the home reflects how investigations often evolve over time.

“It is just more follow-up,” Krygier said. “The investigators continue to follow all the leads and tips that they are getting ( or getting to). Believe it or not, new viable leads pop up all the time.”

“Someone in the area could see or hear something, and it shakes loose a memory that they just put away as ‘nothing’ at the time.”

FBI Questions Neighbors as Case Remains Active

The increased attention comes after journalist Brian Entin revealed that federal agents have been speaking with residents about a nearby vacant property.

“Some of the things that they’re talking about is there’s one neighbor that moved out before Nancy disappeared, and they are asking more questions about that situation,” Entin said on the March 17 episode of his YouTube show, “Brian Entin Investigates.”

“Not to say that that has anything to do with what happened. But that is something the FBI agents are asking about.”

Authorities have not confirmed any direct link between the property and the case. However, the ongoing outreach indicates investigators are working to refine the timeline and examine every possible lead.

As the search continues, Guthrie’s disappearance remains unresolved. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward as efforts continue to understand what happened.
